The sequel XCOM 2 was released last year. The reboot was launched on 2012 and was hailed by both old and new fans alike. Long War Studios, the team responsible for the Long War mod for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, will collaborate with Firaxis in the development of Long War 2 for XCOM.
Game publisher 2K Games revived the series by launching a reboot cane called XCOM which was developed by Firaxis. The six games in the series managed to attract a sizeable following. The original XCOM series was first created and released during the mid90s by Mythos Games and MicroProse. Hopefully, the sequel mod will have fewer kinks this time. Unfortunately, the upcoming Long Mod 2 is mostly likely available for Windows PC users. The official XCOM site has promised to share the latest details about the upcoming mod sequel. This time though, it seems Firaxis and Pavonis are working together for this upcoming project. With the release of XCOM 2, it's just a matter of time before a Long War 2 Mod will appear. It's not always smooth sailing though when using the mods in the game. Several new characters were also added and allowed people to play the game in a new way. The Long War Mod was the most extensive customized content that gave players plenty of hours' worth of gameplay. One mod particular got the attention of both players and game developer Firaxis. XCOM mods started coming out shortly after the game's release. It's now known as Pavonis Ineractive and you can visit their site here. Recently though the modding team has changed its name and launched a new site as well. It released several popular additional contents like the "Alien", "Laser" and "Perk". Long War Studios was the outfit responsible for the various XCOM 2 PC mods. The studio responsible for the previous mod has once again partnered with the game's developers.
The team was also responsible for a trio of mods available at the launch of XCOM 2, including an SMG-series Weapon Mod, a Muton Centurion Mod, and an XCOM Leader Mod. 2K and Firaxis Games have announced a collaboration with modding development team Long War Studios to develop a new series of mods for XCOM 2. Fans of the game should be very excited about this, as Long War Studios, composed of huge fans of the series who understand exactly what players want in their mods, is responsible for the Long War mod from XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM: Enemy Within. This mod was a hit, updating the game substantially by increasing its difficulty, adding missions, overhauling the mechanics, and more.
